Even though Liz grew up in a non-horsey family, she has spent her life surrounded by horses and anything horse-related. She has ridden and shown since her teenage years. She once drove carriages for a living! Since then she has worked primarily in equine retail, learning all aspects of the industry |

How it all began....

Like so many little girls, Denise loved horses...which led to riding lessons at Bob Bradley's Stables in Bonita in the late 60's. Hap Hansen was a young instructor For Bob in those days, and Denise still enjoys telling people that she "used to ride with Hap."

Yes, it really was this empty!!
It wasn't long before Denise and her sister, Diane, harangued their parents into getting them a horse...And Freebie, shown here in his Sears and Roebuck bridle and pad, was acquired from the San Diego Humane Society. Years have passed and both sisters are still involved with horses. Diane has owned a tack shop in Durham, CA, for almost 20 years; Denise's daughter now competes in Hunters and Equitation at the "A" show level.
Early Work!!!
And then in 2007, Denise and Liz decided to open a brick and mortar store in East County San Diego. And San Diego Saddlery was born! We officially opened November 2, 2007, and here's a little of what came before...e's a little of what came before....
